"Journey"

Artist Statement:
This work accentuates multiple facets of natural river landscapes and relates them to one’s own journey of life. First, I digitally extracted water stream maps and used areas that held a particular visual interest to me. These images are chaotic, but I find solace within their circular presentation. I think the aesthetic qualities of the streamlines also relate to direction, and where our life path takes us.
Second, these ideas are continued through the “V” shape of the base, relating to a “fork in the road”. It also becomes a landmark for signifying the two rivers coming into one. All of these conceptual facets bring together a sense of movement, flow, balance, and weight, which are all aspects we experience in our daily lives and beyond.
